Make-up and Details

The big day came. July 2, 2016. It was a day to remember.  All the preparation and hard work had paid off.  The flower gate I made with the help of my sisters took weeks, each silk flower stem placed together intricately, they were purchased from Michaels.  If you have the time and want to have the wedding of your dreams on a budget, DIY if you have the time.

With two hours of sleep at the Brazilian Court in Palm Beach, we got up at 5 am and drove back home for hair and make-up. My poor parents were woken up from the ringing doorbell by the make-up team out front.

We arrived late for our hair and make-up.  My make- up turned out darker than my trial make-up.  I wished she kept a notebook of how the brides like their make-up.  But it was too late, I didn’t have time to re-do my make-up.  My sisters and Esther of course ended up redoing their make-up. Lesson learned, for Asian make-up, hire Asian MUA.  Same with hair.

I had 30 minutes for my two moms, bridesmaids and the dogs.
I got them gifts as a thank you for all their time and sacrifices.  I did go a little crazy, but they’ve done so much, especially Lisa and Esther. They did not stop to think about themselves, all they thought about was for me to have the time of my life.

The gifts were wrapped and boxed in these lovely gift wraps I picked out at Joanns fabric.  My eyes fell in love with the gift boxes and wraps, I couldn’t resist.

I gifted them earrings from David Yurman from the chatelaine collections.  Lisa and Esther’s were a little more special as a token of thanks.  I filled their gift boxes with a mug, notebook, clutch from Henri Bendel and sandals with pink Chanel lacing.  Each gifted with silk robes.

The look on their faces were priceless.

The girls were so grateful and awed at the gifts.  I know I got them something that can be treasured and passed on as an heirloom.

Here is a picture of my custom made slippers with Chanel lacing interlaced on the top.

The mothers, both in their silk robes, had a moment with me in the morning with.  I also showered my mothers with gifts.  I gave my mom a beautiful ring, and mother in law with a Chanel Brooch.
I did go overboard with the gifts, but I know these gifts will be a treasured item that the can pass on to their loved ones.

How cute are my mothers!  These pictures came out lovely.

Then Linh arrived to the house early with the bouquets.  She did not disappoint.  They were lovely.  Her bouquets were better than the sample of flowers I showed her.  Peonies, roses, dusty miller and everything in between.  She is a nut for wedding bouquet!  Linhfloralanddesigns

I loved it.  They were beautiful.  Linh Floral and Design is a delight to work with.  Linh also designed my venue.  More of that when we get to the venue.

I couldn’t believe I had time in the morning to do all of this with my mothers and bridesmaids.  What I will say is planning ahead makes a world of a difference.  It allowed me to have time in the morning of the wedding day to spend with my mothers and girls, to thank them for everything they’ve done for me.  Thank you girls for throwing me such a fabulous bachelorette party and bridal shower, I was over the moon.

Next blog entry are the ceremonies.
