From my last post, I mentioned I wanted to share some wonderful news to my readers. For the last few months I have been designing, creating video ads and photo ads for my new store. I have been selling on ebay and poshmark for awhile now and during Covid quarantine I stayed home from work. Taking unemployment. My profession is high risk and the unknown was questionable at the time. I never thought in my lifetime I would be on unemployment, but I was.
I started back at work in May after having half of March off and all of April. I had a meeting call from my director to have the doctors come back to see only emergencies. Of course working for someone, there is always a downfall, we the employee are always the ones at risk, especially in my profession as a dentist. I don’t think I’ve posted much on what I do. I create beautiful smiles and at the same time capture the moments you would not usually see.
I’ve been working as a dentist for about 6 years now. This profession is grueling yet rewarding. Grueling as in your neck and back aching and if you are working for someone, you’re only taking home a little more than a quarter of what you make, while the owners take the majority of your hard earned money and pack your schedule like bananas. The new students that come out of dental school owe a house mortgage, school tuition is not like what it use to be. So if you want to open a practice, you can but it is scary! You’re taking another house mortgage out to open an office. That’s two home mortgage without having any savings to start with, therefore you see corporate dominating the market taking advantage of these newly grads. (I’m shaking my head as I am typing this)
Other than that, we are still fortunate to be able to apply for income base repayments or work the next few years to aggressively pay down these loans. So when you look at the next doctor or dentist, keep in mind these doctors worked very hard to be where they are at, and they may be poorer than you! With negative six figures or two house mortgage and a butt load of loans!
Sometimes I wonder if I chose the right profession. But when I deliver these beautiful smiles.. then I say yes. Because these patients have cried in my chair because I was able to change their lives and countless others. The pictures below were given permission by my patients to post. Here are a couple of my wonderful patients that I adore! Being a cosmetic dentist has it’s upside, especially if you know what you are doing. I might make a separate page for just Dentistry. To post my work.

My goal is to eventually open my own office and run it the way I want to, being your own boss and doing what you want without answering to a director or an office manager is GOALS. (one day). Being honest with your patients is key. Skills are acquired with experience and with a gift of manual dexterity, that is what separates an excellent dentist from a mediocre dentist. And yes, it helps that I paint, sketch and have an eye for artistry.
Technology in this profession is ever evolving, and we have to keep up with it, but lets not forget the human touch to all of this. To truly love this profession, you must love and care about your patient as if they were your family member. That’s why I enjoy going to work so much, I know right.. that is odd lol, but my patients and I have a blast, just talking about current events, life and teeth.

And when you add photography into the mix that captures their sheer happiness, this is what makes my job so satisfactory. The true bliss my patients recieve from their new smile. How very thankful I am to give these patients the smile that they deserve. To be a good listener and to truly care about what their concerns are is important in my practice philosophy. The confidence and the youth dentistry can bring to a person is impactful. I hope these photos bring smiles to you when you read this post.
Dentistry is not all about just a filling or a cleaning, but it is life changing. My wonderful lady patient in the picture above did not have teeth in the back for over 20 years and wanted something new even at her age. She’s lived without knowing that she can have a set of teeth that would forever change how she feels about herself, and make her look 20 years younger and to chew on her back teeth. Boy, she made me cry with her when she got to go home with her new teeth…
I will post more in the coming weeks. Photography… the NEW store launch… Dentistry… and Life in general.
Be Creative – Be Expressive – Be Yourself.
Always,
Rose
